Alexandria, Va. – September 12, 2023 – The SPECTRUM Group (TSG) is pleased to announce that Ernest “E.J.” Herold has joined its firm. Mr. Herold delivers a dedicated background in international affairs across the public and private sectors, making him a valuable addition to TSG.

Prior to joining TSG, Mr. Herold served as Executive Director of the International Institute for Strategic Studies – Americas. Previously, he served as an Adjunct Senior Fellow in the Transatlantic Security Program at the Center for a New American Security.
During his 21 years in Europe, Mr. Herold served as Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Defense Investment at NATO Headquarters, where he was responsible for policy and programmatic oversight of major NATO systems and NATO’s relationships with the defense industry. He previously served as the Business Development Executive for IBM BELUX, with a client portfolio including NATO, USEUCOM, and USAFRICOM.
Mr. Herold served a 26-year U.S. Army career as a field artillery officer and Foreign Area Officer, culminating as Chief, Office of Defense Cooperation for the U.S. Embassy in France and retiring at the rank of Colonel. His career included operational military assignments and international affairs study and practice, primarily in Europe.
