Washington, D.C. – Karla Perri, a member of The SPECTRUM Group’s Energy & Environment Center of Excellence, will moderate two panel discussions on December 4th at the Federal Energy Policy Summit. The Summit will run December 4-6 at the Embassy Suites DC Convention Center in Washington D.C.
The first panel, entitled “Public/Private Coordination and Cooperation for Grid Cybersecurity”, includes panelists Jim Cunningham, the Executive Director of Protect Our Power, and Dr. Amelia Estwick, the Program Manager of Excelsior College’s National Cybersecurity Institute. The second panel Ms. Perri will moderate is entitled “Cyber and Physical Security Convergence” and includes panelists Mark Feasel, VP of Electric Utility Segment & Smart Grid for Schneider Electric; Daryl Haegley, GISCO, OCP, Control Systems Cyber Security, Office of the Secretary of Defense; and Jim Somborovich, the Senior Director of Cyber Security Operations at Xcel Energy.
The Federal Energy Policy Summit enables senior officials from FERC, DOE, EPA, & DHS and DoD to come together with industry to discuss plans, priorities, and new initiatives for 2019. Panels and presentations throughout the Summit will address and provide:
- Updates from senior representatives from FERC, DOE, DHS and DoD on the latest status of their organizations’ new energy policy initiatives and goals
- Candid assessment of how energy policy will be impacted by the 2018 elections
- The latest thinking on grid resilience, cybersecurity, and related issues from MISO, PJM, CAISO and market participants, including XCEL, Exelon, NRG, Southern Company, and Calpine
- Briefings on how organized power markets are working to incorporate state-preferred resource plans, and how these changes will impact auctions and markets
- Surveys on the latest developments and opportunities in energy storage, gas pipeline permitting, revisions to rate-making, and related topics
