Newark, New Jersey – The SPECTRUM Group’s Cyber Security & Insider Threat Team Lead, Mike Penders, presented a keynote address at the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) 2018 Cybersecurity Summit. NJTV News covered it in a segment entitled “Businesses can’t escape the internet of things, NJBIA says“.

Penders spoke about “Visions for the Future of Cybersecurity”. He also addressed security concerns about the Internet of Things (IOT), the increasingly connected technologies that small businesses are embracing – that come with their own cyber security challenges. Penders noted that sometimes the biggest security risks can be a company’s own employees.

“That’s really where the most risk is now, with the insiders, people who have access, if they can compromise someone who does have authorized access and gain access that way,” Penders said.

Penders also moderated a panel addressing “Your Legal Response to Cyber Attacks (or, What Keeps Management Up at Night)”, featuring two fellow cyber security lawyer panelists, Robert Egan of Archer Law and Karen Randall of Connell Foley LLP.
