Carlisle, PA – LTG David Huntoon, USA, Ret., SPECTRUM Member and the founder of Spectrum Advantage Executive Leadership Training, spoke to the Army War College body of students and faculty, as well as a virtual audience, April 24-25. The event, focused on “Strategic Leadership 2030”, assembled diverse leaders and leader developers to provide a variety of voices in creating an original set of insights.
“Strategic leaders are those who have to influence formations not under their control, across the interagency and allied formations — influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation while accomplishing the mission and improving the organization,” shared General Huntoon.
The Army War College’s event is held with the premise that strategic leader development is a foundation of readiness that rests with the nation’s war colleges. The speakers at the event were asked to “look over the horizon” to examine critical questions in leader development, including:
- What will next-gen strategic leaders need to be?
- Will environmental changes, tech developments and other changes influence the character of strategic leadership, 2030?
- What is the enduring nature of strategic leadership?
- Will there be war colleges in the future?
