PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Captain Wood supports clients with a unique combination of skills and expertise built upon over 40 years in active duty military operational and staff positions, government civilian service, and private sector defense consulting. He delivers significant knowledge in the joint requirements process, along with the attendant acquisition and resourcing processes, international defense advising and security assistance, and naval aviation and naval operations.

Prior to joining The SPECTRUM Group, Captain Wood served as a Deputy Division Chief (GS-15) on the Joint Staff (J-8), responsible for the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) process and managing Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC) and Joint Capabilities Board (JCB) meetings in their deliberation of military capability requirements issues. During this time, he was detailed to Kyiv, Ukraine as an advisor to Ukraine’s government. Coordinating with the U.S. Embassy and NATO’s Liaison Office, Captain Wood provided expert advice and assistance to enhance Ukraine’s strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of critical efforts to achieve improved alignment with NATO standards and principles, increased interoperability, and possible future NATO membership.

In his 26-year U.S. Navy career, Captain Wood served as a Naval Flight Officer in the S-3A/B Viking aircraft, in leadership positions in OPNAV N3/5, N88, and as an individual augmentee volunteer in Iraq.
