PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Mr. Nichols supports clients in European and multinational endeavors, energy and infrastructure projects, emerging markets, and national security domains, leveraging his senior leadership background in the U.S. Department of State, USAID, and in the private sector. His currently focuses on utility-scale solar, advanced nuclear power, port infrastructure development, cyber security, and commodities.
Prior to joining The SPECTRUM Group (TSG), Mr. Nichols led the Energy, Defense, and Commodities Divisions at Wesley K. Clark & Associates, supporting clients in oil and gas, wind power, cyber security, defense interoperability, communications, electric vehicle manufacturing, biometrics, investment banking, and commodities. Previously, he served as Vice President and Treasurer of the presidential campaign of General Wesley Clark, U.S. Army (Ret.).
During the Clinton Administration, Mr. Nichols served as Senior Advisor, Office of the Assistant Secretary for European Affairs at the State Department, where he coordinated the NATO 50th Anniversary Summit, the Sarajevo Summit, and the Stability Pact for Southeastern Europe, a multi-billion-dollar program with the E.U. to rebuild the region after the wars in Bosnia and Kosovo. Earlier, he managed programs in the Caucasus and Central Asia in the Office of Emergency and Humanitarian Assistance in the USAID Bureau for Europe and the New Independent States.
In addition to his work at TSG, Mr. Nichols serves on the Boards of Directors of The Stimson Center, a national security think tank, and Renew America Together, a nonprofit dedicated to building bipartisan consensus and collaboration on critical issues facing the U.S. He previously served as a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Nichols speaks English, French, Russian, and Portuguese.
