General Hurlbert delivers substantial experience helping U.S. and global clients manage their threat exposure and develop and implement solutions to reduce risk and meet their corporate business objectives. His expertise spans leader development and education, law enforcement, counterintelligence, security, risk management, compliance, and due diligence domains.
Prior to joining The SPECTRUM Group, General Hurlbert served a 32-year career in the U.S. Air Force, culminating in his serving as Commandant of the National War College. In this role, he served as the chief executive, administrative, and education officer of nation’s premier, graduate-level, national security strategy, professional military education institution.
Previously, General Hurlbert served as the Deputy Inspector General, the Director of Senior Official Inquiries, and the Director of Special Investigations for the Department of the Air Force. In prior assignments, he served in a variety of leadership positions in the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI), including Commander of the 5th Field Investigations Region, with counterintelligence operations and criminal investigations responsibility spanning 28 locations in 18 countries across Europe and Africa, and Commander of the 5th Field Investigations Squadron, with similar responsibilities on the Korean peninsula. General Hurlbert also previously served as Director of Security and Intelligence for the White House Military Office under both the Bush 43 and Obama administrations.
