Alexandria, Va. – November 16, 2023 – The SPECTRUM Group (TSG) is pleased to announce that Mr. Andrew “Andy” Griffith, SES (Ret.) has joined its firm. Mr. Griffith delivers more than 40 years of experience as a nuclear energy, technology, security, and nonproliferation senior subject matter expert in U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), U.S. Navy, and global domains.

“Andy brings exceptional experience, expertise, and integrity to TSG,” said Andrew J. Prior to joining TSG, Mr. Griffith served in several key leadership roles in the U.S. DOE Office of Nuclear Energy, culminating in his presidential appointment as Acting Assistant Secretary of Nuclear Energy. There, he led implementation of key nuclear energy research, development, demonstration, and deployment programs, the office’s $1.8B annual budget, and initiation of the $6B Civil Nuclear Credit program. Mr. Griffith worked primarily in DOE nuclear energy fuel cycle programs, developing accident-tolerant fuel and advanced fuel supply systems for nuclear reactors, managing nuclear energy infrastructure, nuclear safeguards and nonproliferation. He also led advancement of next-generation reactor demonstrations and reactor technology risk reduction programs, as well as used nuclear fuel interim storage, disposition, and recycling initiatives.

Prior to joining the U.S. DOE, Mr. Griffith served in the U.S. nuclear submarine force. He continued serving in the U.S. Navy Reserve throughout his DOE service, retiring at the rank of Captain, and is Submarine and Engineering Department Head Qualified.
