Captain Weiss supports commercial aviation clients in developing safety and security management systems, and serves as an advocate and expert in helping clients pursue policy and programs around homeland security and aviation safety. He also serves as a commentator and subject matter expert for TV and radio, including BBC, CNN, Fox News, CCTV, and MSNBC.
Prior to joining The Spectrum Group, Captain Weiss served as a representative of his peer commercial pilots in the development of FAA, TSA, FAMS and NASA safety and security regulations and protocols. As a career American Airlines pilot, he led the National Security Committee of the Allied Pilots Association (APA) and served on the Security Committee of the Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations (CAPA). In these roles, he represented concerns to the Federal Air Marshals Service (FAMS), and helped draft the NASA Security Incident Reporting System (SIRS) protocols. He also helped develop TSA’s Common Strategy, Crew Member Self Defense Training Program, and cargo handling/training security protocols.
